Fostering Good Behavior Throughout The Entire Stay

Fostering Good Behavior Throughout The Entire Stay

Effective dog training is vital for the safety and well-being of both the dog and the owner. Our experienced trainers teach the dog to follow specific commands and behave appropriately in different situations, such as walking on a leash, socializing with other dogs, not jumping on people, and hunting. Consistency, patience, and understanding of the dog's individual behavior are crucial for successful training. We send you and your dog home with all the tools & techniques to reinforce good behaviors. It is recommended to start training the dog as early as possible and seek professional help if needed. Remember, investing time and effort in the dog's training will result in a well-behaved and happy companion.

Dual Training Approach

At Ivy League, we offer a Dual Training Approach. It is a two-fold training strategy our experienced staff uses to ensure results after your dog has spent time with us!

We complement training sessions with around-the-clock training “touch points” throughout the entire stay. Our staff will reinforce good behaviors and techniques learned in each session .

We find this approach to accelerate results and create consistency for your dog. This also reinforces the concept that “good behaviors are expected with different humans”.

Our mission is to develop a dog that is Stable, Confident, and Predictable anywhere you take them!

  • Puppy Boot Camp

    Age: 12-16 Weeks

    Duration: 4 Days/ 3 Nights

During the puppy boot camp, we concentrate on socializing your puppy with other puppies and various staff members. We also work on focus drills, which gives your puppy a good foundation for listening and learning. We start puppies on leash walking and exercises as well. If you want to hunt, we will introduce noise and a bird.

    * The advantage of starting your puppy at 12 weeks old is that they are in the most formative life stage and learn quickly.

  • One Week Boot Camp

    Age: 4 Months- 6 Months

    Duration: 8 Days/ 7 Nights

-During the one-week boot camp, we begin structured training. We work on focus drills such as touch, leave it and off, controlled leash walking, come, sit, stay down, and place. For hunting dogs, we offer more exposure to birds, gunfire, and some field work.

    * At 4- 6 months or older, we can introduce an e-collar. E-collars are great for recall (come), counter surfing, jumping, etc. and are often an integral part of the hunt experience.

  • Two Week Boot Camp

    Age: 6 Months & Up

    Duration: 15 Days/ 14 Nights

-During the two-week boot camp, we offer a fully structured training program. In this bootcamp we use various training tools and props for obedience, establishing and reinforcing sit, stay, down, come, recall, and platform training. This program helps create a strong foundation for a steady dog in the field and on walks. As we get more in depth with obedience and working with e-collar training, we are also able to begin correcting unwanted behaviors and bad habits. For hunting dogs, we focus on field work : quartering, pointing (if applicable), retrieving, routine exposure to live birds, and gunfire.

  • Five Week Boot Camp

    Age: 6 Months & Up

    Duration: 36 Days/ 35 Nights

-During the five-week boot camp, we review or establish all the basics of obedience training and move towards advanced skills that really challenge your dog. Depending on your dog, this may include extended sit/stays, downs, and off leash work. We use various tools and equipment to enforce the five basic commands as well as touch, leave it, watch, place, wait, and off. We expose your dog to different environments and scenarios to develop calm confident behavior. This is truly when obedience is firmly implanted in the dogs psyche. Corrective training may be done in the event there are any behaviors that need to un learned. This bootcamp helps prepare your dog for all the skills necessary to accomplish the Canine Good Citizen test. A 10 skill test that teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog owners. CGC is an early step toward therapy dog and service dog training and is a certification that speaks volumes about your dogs ability to navigate the human experience. In general, the five- week training prepares your dog to be controlled and more predictable in the field, at home, at the lake, or anywhere you take it.

For hunting dogs, we focus on practical application in the field and increase exposure to birds, gunfire, and pointing (when applicable). Tools such as multiple dummy launchers, electronic bird box, live bird, bird launcher, and multiple dog scenarios will be practiced.
